A Connecticut First: Agricultural Experiment Station

Dr. Louis Magnarelli is director of the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station, the first such facility in the U.S., established in 1875 to investigate “plant and their pests, insects, soil, and water.” But don’t think that the work is historic (it is) – current research includes tick-borne diseases, and analyzing water for oil disseminated in the Gulf of Mexico to ensure food supplies are safe.
